Born on April 19, 1879 in Vingaker, Sweden, died in 1948. At age 18 he immigrated to the United states. He worked for Marlin firearms as barrels maker, became foreman, was promoted to the tool room and later transferred to gun design. he modified the Browing .30 caliber machine gun for use on aircraft by lightening it to 19 pounds and increasing the rate for fire from 400 to 900 rounds per minute. He founded the High Standard Manufacturing Co. in 1926.
